"So I commend the enjoyment of life, because nothing is better for a man under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany him in his work all the days of the life God has given him under the sun." ~Ecclesiastes 8:15
BIOGRAPHY
Daisy Maureen was born on August 6, 1980 on a military base in Olongopo City, Philippines, but grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Being a Leo, Daisy had always been destined to be in the spotlight. She frequently received the Student of the Month awards, and made straight A’s in school. Growing up, she loved to read and create her own stories and plays. She credits her first performance as playing Rosa Parks during the Martin Luther King Jr. program at Fulton Elementary. During her senior year at Peabody High School, her English teacher, Mrs. Plowey, encouraged Daisy to try out for the spring musical. Though she loved to act and dance, Daisy feared singing by herself on stage. But after pushing that fear to the side and auditioning anyways, Daisy landed the role of Sarah Brown in the musical “Guys & Dolls”, which to this day remains one of her favorite roles! All through high school, Daisy excelled in Drama, Dance, Writing, Cheerleading, etc., and despite her busy schedule, Daisy became Valedictorian of her Senior Class.
At this point, Daisy was bit by the acting bug! She continued to study theater arts and film studies on a full scholarship at the University of Pittsburgh. At Pitt, she participated in many projects with the Theater Arts Department. She also performed at various Women’s Days with the Greater Pittsburgh Church of Christ. She also received her first opportunity to do a national commercial for a public service announcement concerning Cervical Cancer, along with other projects. She interned with The Talent Group, therefore learning the inside workings of a talent agency and the business of acting. She also co-founded The Sprocket Guild at Pitt with Greg Allen, a fellow church member and Pitt Grad Student. The Sprocket Guild funds student films and encourages student participation at all levels – writing, producing, directing, marketing, acting, etc.
Upon graduation in 2002, Daisy soon began working a Videotape Librarian at New Perspective Productions, and was later promoted to Shoot Production Coordinator. This allowed her many opportunities to gain valuable experience and a better understanding on working behind the scenes on productions.
In 2003, Daisy moved to Virginia Beach for a change of scenery. She worked at Dave Iwans & Associates, an advertising, marketing, and PR firm, and continued her acting work in TV/Film when she had the opportunity. She worked on TV spots for the Christian Broadcast Network and also New Dominion Pictures, which produces re-enactment shows for the Discovery Channel.
It was during this time when she met James, who was in the Singles Ministry with her at the Hampton Roads Church of Christ. They became best friends, and soon fell in love. The two were married in February of 2005.
A few months later, James’ job relocated them to Atlanta, Georgia. On November 19th 2006, they added to the family an Akita-Chow-Chow mix whom they named TUX, due to his black and white coat. While in Atlanta, she worked on a TV pilot and several motion picture films and commercials, and was the personal assistant to Tyler Perry at Tyler Perry Studios.
Currently, she and her family has relocated back to Virginia Beach, Virginia. Along with continuing her acting, she also works as an Independent Consultant with The Pampered Chef(R), bringing people together to learn about the Pampered Chef products while learning new recipes and kitchen tips.
Daisy's favorite movies are of the romantic comedy and/or dance genre, and some of her favorite on-screen characters are Jennifer Lopez in The Wedding Planner, Jessica Alba in Honey, and Trinity from The Matrix.
MINISTRY THROUGH FILM/VIDEOS/THEATER
Daisy was baptized into Christ during her freshman year at the University of Pittsburgh. Since then, her life has centered around God and helping others to know Him. She is grateful that He has given her various talents and a bubbly personality, and she desires to use it all for HIS GLORY by creating films/videos/theater with a Christian message! Daisy has also worked with the Hope Youth Corps to teach messages on gang violence, literacy, and AIDS through theater performances for children in Durban, South Africa; Kingston, Jamaica; Philadelphia, PA; and Washington, D.C.
She is blessed to be part of an incredible fellowship of believers here in Virginia. Visit the website for the Hampton Roads Church for more info on worship services and events.
